Graduate student Kristen Hogans (in the RMPD Global Merchandising and Product Development program) was awarded a research grant from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to pursue an independent research project in 2017.

The project, "Assessment of Laser Perforated Athletic Uniforms for Improved Thermal Comfort and Human Performance," will evaluate Nike's newly released micro-perforated football uniform technology. Her project plan includes partnering with the Textile Protection and Comfort Center (TPACC) at NC State University to conduct fabric and garment level breathability testing this spring.

Hogans will then design and implement a human subject wear trial, in collaboration with the Institute of Sports Sciences & Medicine, to determine physiological comfort improvements.
