Ms. Steed brings twenty five years of corporate VP merchandising expertise in Designer/Contemporary/Better Sportswear, Dresses, Juniors, Intimate and Footwear at Parisian/Saks Dept. Store Group, Macy’s, Inc. and Belk, Inc. At Belk, Inc. she managed sales of $325 million, doing business in 317 stores and 17 states. Ms. Steed was known as a results-oriented, decisive leader with proven success in strategic thinking. She demonstrated a strong track record of increasing sales, market share, and profitability. Her strength was always product development relative to both domestic and proprietary brands as that was key to drive sales volume and strong profit results. Ms. Steed’s experience includes international travel for trend forecasting to Paris, Florence and London with the corporate private brand development team. She also travelled to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea for product development and sourcing strategies.

In her corporate experience, Ms. Steed mentored interns, executive trainees, assistant buyers and buyers to develop bench strength for the company while assisting in their career growth. “My teaching focus is to integrate course materials with real life business examples to provide a better understanding of the relativity and how this base knowledge will aid in critical thinking and application to the industry. My top priority is to advantage our students once they enter the business world.” Ms. Steed has also taught the RMPD International Program for summer 2013 and will be teaching again for the upcoming summer 2015 program.
